Want to bring razors with built-in gel to market under your own brand? Then you’ll come across terms like OEM, ODM and private label. They look similar but mean different things. This guide helps you choose.
What do OEM, ODM and private label mean?
- OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer): the manufacturer produces a product based on your specifications or design. You largely define the design; the factory makes it.
- ODM (Original Design Manufacturer): the manufacturer supplies an existing, developed design that you sell under your own brand — faster, with less development time.
- Private label: an existing product is given your brand name and packaging. The product stays the same; the branding is yours.
Why a manufacturer with in-house production?
Trip Shave Club products are made by DRMED Medikal, with a production capacity of 30 million units per year and an existing line of six variants. The brand is active in more than fifty countries. A manufacturer with its own R&D and production can think along about variants, packaging and volume.
What you can tailor
- A choice of six scents/variants and packs in 1-, 3- and 6-packs
- Your own brand name, colours and packaging design (private label)
- Adapted specifications or formulations on consultation (OEM/ODM)
- Volumes matched to your market, from pilot to large-scale order
Quality and certification
The factory works with quality assurance under CE, ISO 13485 (quality management for medical devices) and the European MDR (2017/745), among others. Certificates are available on request, so you know what you’re buying for the European market.
